One little, two little, three little failures...

Mississippi: You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy!Four little, five little, six little failures... Seven little, eight little, nine little failures, ten failures failing to make any sense at all or treat one another like human beings!

It's hard to say that this entire thing is anything OTHER than a pile of fail. Fuck, this is so bad, I'm honestly not even sure that the levees in New Orleans could fail this hard if Katrina hit five times in a row!

Constance McMillen is a lesbian, according to news reports. As a lesbian, she dates other lesbians (see: women that like women). Constance is also a high school senior attending Itawamba Agricultural High School in Fulton, Mississippi. Like many high school seniors, she wanted nothing more to attend her prom, and that's where the problems began!

This is what a prom looks like.Itawamba's (reminds me of aye carumba?) school board decided she couldn't do bring another woman as her date. "No same-sex dates allowed," they told her.

Well, the American Civil Liberties Union didn't like that. They took us Constance's cause and fought for her rights, threatening to sue the school. The ACLU prevailed, and the school board buckled in the of such pressure.

Oh, yes, they buckled... But not how you think! They canceled the prom completely and suggested that someone hold a private prom (you know, so Constance couldn't bring her date).

Now the locals can say "There goes that dyke, Constance, that ruined the prom," instead of "there goes that dyke, Constance!"

But, I guess that was the school board's intention.

Don't worry, the failure doesn't end there. I did promise you "ten" little failures, and I plan on delivering at least a four.

Replying to someone that asked about "Christian values" in relation to this story, authorlaurence did a great job in the comments with this one:

Christian values do not include sanctioning deviant homosexual behavior or pedophilia.

Pedophilia? What? I don't... I don't... WHAT? Where did that come from?

Actually, that guy failed several times, but I'm not going to waste my time posting all of them. Just go and look through the comments for his name. I couldn't find one non-stupid thing he said.

Gustnadoex gave us all this one:

Sexual preference does not equal civil rights. The majority of this countrys population does not have to bow to the indoctrinition that homosexuality is an OK alternative lifestyle. Sexuality is for the bedroom no the public arena.

Sweet, so straights shouldn't hold hands either, right? That's what I gather, here. If two lesbians coming to a prom is forcing sexuality on people, and sexuality is "for the bedroom no [sic] the public arena", then there shouldn't be a prom at all, right?

And this little gem from credit6621, who apparently doesn't realize that Itawamba is part of the PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOL system:
Itawamba Agricultural High School did the right thing.

It is their school and they have the right to make the policies that affect all students and staff.

*sigh*
